Transforming the Vinyl Bars

A first class experience

Vibrant and contemporary, the Vinyl Bars sit in the heart of London – one in Soho, one in the West End. Whether it’s an after work drink, somewhere to enjoy the big game or a place to watch a live music performance, the venues can cater for parties of 5-500 and are licensed until 3am, 7 days a week.

As they undertook a major refurbishments in their venues, the Operations Director, Les Richards wanted to take the opportunity to upgrade their facilities. Their desire was to offer their customers a first class experience, whether they were simply watching a presentation on a projector or attending one of their annual outdoor summer events.

Over the past year, Flipside have worked closely with Richards and the team to upgrade and develop the sites, including insuring the venues are sound-proofed enough to comply with council regulations.

“In a densely populated location like London, noise pollution issues are commonplace, and as sound experts we’re happy to help ensure licenses are defended,” says Flipside Managing Director, James Cooper. “We believe venues need to be able to functions and support London’s nightlife whilst respecting resident’s right to a night’s sleep.”

“I contacted five AV companies and received five quotes of varying details,” says Richards. “All were easy enough to understand but James went that extra mile to explain the quote and ensure that the best equipment was specified for our situation and our budget.”

On-going support

Throughout the last year working together, Flipside have helped Vinyl Records with numerous different projects. Their first task was to upgrade the ground floor at the St Paul’s venue which began by adding a few quality Apart Audio products and upgrading the existing Turbosound in-ceiling system.

Cooper explains: “We’ve supported Les with a whole range of projects, from servicing equipment and installing projectors to video distribution technology for screenings and hosting corporate events. They’ve also hired additional equipment for numerous occasions including outdoor events and much more. Most recently, we’ve been working together with the local Soho council to improve compliance and community development by installing and calibrating a sound limiter.”

Over time, Flipside has developed an intimate knowledge of both the business functions and the Vinyl Bar sites, which has helped streamline their ways of working. Cooper adds, “We know it’s not always realistic to overhaul everything in one go, so we’ve been able to plan how we work consistently to layer in improvement to the sites.”

All-round improvement

Richards concludes: “I found the Flipside team to be very professional, they delivered the project on time and within budget. The installation was exactly what we wanted. The equipment has performed perfectly and most importantly, my very fussy customers have been happy.

“The install has definitely improved our business offering allowing us to increase our market share in a very competitive environment. Overall they offer great products and great service at realistic prices.”
